This year, Italy is once again joining the campaign promoted by UNWomen to commemorate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, which falls on November 25.
Italy’s goal is to protect and promote women’s rights, as well as to combat all forms of discrimination and gender-based violence.
This is a central commitment to our country’s foreign policy, reaffirmed through the recent adoption of the fifth national plan for the implementation of the UN “Women, Peace and Security” agenda.
On its return as a voting member of the United Nations Human Rights Council in 2026, Italy will pay particular attention to preventing and combating violence against women and girls, a priority issue in our election campaign for the Geneva seat.
