Operational shutdown of the VIS computer system for the processing and issuing of entry visas
We inform you that from 21:00 (18:00 Rome time, CET) on 12 February 2026 until 03:00 (00:00 Rome time, CET) on 18 February 2026, the VIS operating system will be affected by a temporary operational shutdown.
This is a planned and urgent technical intervention which will lead to the temporary suspension of the reception and processing of visa applications, as well as that of issuing entry visas. This suspension will affect the operations of both the visa office of the Italian Embassy in Muscat and the centers managed by the outsourcer VFS Global.
We inform you that, in order to minimize the inconvenience of users, appointments already scheduled will be rescheduled in the days immediately preceding or following the period affected by the operational stoppage, taking due consideration of priority needs and cases of urgency.
