In consideration of the resumption of the normal activity in the Immigration offices of the Police in Italy and in coordination with the Schengen partners, the following rules will apply to third country nationals, including Omani citizens, holding residence permits of
Italy:
- Residence permits expiring or expired between January 31, 2020 and July 31, 2020 are automatically extended until August 31, 2020 and are considered as an authorization of legal stay until 31 August 2020. No additional procedure is required.
- Extended residence permit are not valid for expatriation purposes after the original expiry date.
- Holders of extended residence permits who wish to travel back to Italy should apply for a re-entry visa. Until the reopening of the Italian visa application center managed by VFS Global, applications for re-entry visa shall be submitted to the Embassy of Italy.
